RV Series Worm Gear Reducer
RV Series Worm Gearboxes
SMK RV series worm gearboxes combine a compact right-angle housing with flexible motor and output configurations. They are selected by required ratio, output torque, mounting position, shaft dimensions, duty cycle and motor interface.
Components
1. Housing: Die-cast aluminum alloy gearbox for RV025–RV090; cast iron gearbox for RV110–RV150.
2. Worm wheel: Wear-resistant tin (stannum) bronze alloy or aluminum bronze alloy, subject to model.
3. Worm shaft: 20Cr steel with carburizing, quenching and grinding; surface hardness 56–62 HRC, with approximately 0.3–0.5 mm remaining carburized layer after precision grinding.
4. Input configurations: Electric motor, brake motor, DC motor or servo motor; IEC B5/B14 motor flange, NEMA C-face motor flange and solid shaft input options are available subject to model.
5. Output configurations: Keyed hollow shaft output, hollow shaft with output flange or plug-in solid shaft output.
6. Options: Worm shaft rear extension, single output shaft, double output shaft, output flange, torque arm and dust cover.
7. Gearbox painting: Aluminum alloy housings receive shot blasting, anticorrosion treatment and phosphating, then RAL 5010 gentian blue or RAL 7035 light grey paint. Cast iron housings receive red antirust treatment and RAL 5010 gentian blue paint.
Models
Hollow shaft input with IEC-normalized motor flange: RV025–RV150.
Solid shaft input: RV025–RV150.

NMRV Worm Gearbox FAQ
Answers to common buyer questions about NMRV/RV worm gear reducer selection.
What NMRV worm gearbox sizes and ratios are available?
The listed range covers sizes 030, 040, 050, 060, 075, 090, 105, 110, 130 and 150, with reduction ratios from 5:1 to 100:1. Final availability depends on the required input, output and mounting configuration.
Can an NMRV gearbox be supplied with an electric motor?
Yes. SMK can match the worm gearbox with a compatible electric motor according to motor power, voltage, frequency, output speed, torque, duty and mounting requirements.
What information is needed for a worm gearbox quotation?
Please provide motor power and input speed, required output speed or ratio, load torque, mounting position, shaft or flange requirements, application, operating hours and quantity.
Are all worm gearboxes self-locking?
No. Backdriving behavior depends on worm geometry, ratio, friction, lubrication, wear, vibration and load. Do not rely on assumed self-locking as a substitute for a rated brake in safety-critical applications.
